Hanusyn O. The daily life of the Ukrainian intellectuals of Galicia in the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The dissertation contains reconstruction of the diversity of everyday practices of the Ukrainian intellectuals of Eastern Galicia in the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, which were the period of state, political, economic, cultural, ideological, national changes, aimed to modernize these spheres of life. Features of social origin, family upbringing, gymnasium and student environments, professional fulfillment, financial position, arranging the aspects of everyday life and leisure; the image of the intellectuals in public opinion, its social status, the intellectuals’ vision of their duties and roles; the meaning of the idea of «serving the people» in the hierarchy of the world-view values of the Ukrainian intellectuals; models of familial and friendly relationship in the situation of national and political conflicts in the environment of Galicia were disclosed. It is noted that intellectuals performed important functions as part of Ukrainian society, which were disproportionate to their number, though they became the factor of national and social transformations.
