Dzhaman Y. Development of Ethnic Tourism in Multi-Ethnic Urban Settlement (the example of Chernivtsi)

The essence of ethnic tourism as type of tourism activity, as well as the same of ethnic culture and ethnic tourism resources as objects of tourism attractiveness has been disclosed in the dissertation study. Ethnic tourism itself is considered in the context of inter-ethnic relations in conditions of present-day globalization. An algorithm for social-geographic study of ethnic tourism in big multi-ethnic urban settlement was developed, as well as theoretical-methodical bases to support the same were suggested. It was found appropriate that the study of ethnic tourism potential and development of ethnographic excursion routes in poly-cultural space of big urban settlement were performed in five stages. The first (preparatory) stage would include the study of population’s ethnic structure and specificities of its formation and dynamics; the second (analytical) would be devoted to ascertainment of the degree of population’s ethnic variety; the third (synthetic) is supposed to establish availability of material and spiritual heritage of ethnic communities, as well as available tourism objects would be grouped and systemized according to their ethnic belonging; the fourth (evaluative) stage would deal with tourism objects point-based evaluation; and, the fifth (final) stage is supposed to result in mapping of all objects that represent cultural heritage of respective ethnic cultures, and subsequent development of ethnographic excursion routes.
