Essay

For the first time a complex socio-geographical analysis of competitiveness was carried out and center-peripheral laws of Kyiv region competitiveness were established, that made it possible to identify the territorial differences of the competitive advantages and positions it occupies in terms of productive-financial, labor, and natural-resource potential and the potential of socio-demographic development and the territorial components of the center-peripheral system of the region. The research offers the four stages of the region's competitiveness: theoretical- methodological, evaluation, analytical and synthetic stages and one of the main methods for assessing the region competitiveness based on the rank comparison methods. The most competitive territory is determined by ranking according to the integral index. It is emphasized that the Metropolitan area has a powerful endogenous development potential: natural resource, demographic, production, labor-resource and innovation. The advantageous geopolitical location of the region determines its important role in the system of economic activity, social, innovative development, ensuring national security of the state, strengthening its participation in European and subregional geopolitical processes.
