In the dissertation «The ideas of preschool children`s labor education in pedagogical press (50–80s of the 20th century)» the development of preschool children`s labor education ideas in the pedagogical press of Ukraine in 50–80s of the 20th century is scientifically substantiated. The systematization of the source base was made according to the purpose of the research and included three source groups: 1) documentaries; 2) pedagogical press; 3) interpretative sources. The peculiarities of the pedagogical press were analyzed and characterized, the criteria for the selection of publications of the pedagogical direction from the press were developed, which contained materials on the labor education of children of preschool age. The role of the pedagogical press in the dissemination, introduction and support of the ideas of labor education is clarified; it has been proved that the main publications covering the issues of preschool children`s labor education in the Ukrainian SSR were journals: «Preschool Education» (Kyiv), «Preschool Education» (Moscow), collection of scientific works «Preschool Pedagogy and Psychology» (Kyiv). The preconditions of the development of preschool children`s labor education ideas (30 – 40s of the 20th century) were identified and grounded: uncertainty of the place of work and labor education in the system of preschool education; lack of research and scientific substantiation of preschool children`s labor education organization; poor supply of teaching staff capable of finding new approaches in work with preschool children. The periods and stages of the development of preschool children`s labor education ideas on the pages of the pedagogical press in 50–80s of the 20th century were investigated and characterized for the first time on the basis of historical and pedagogical analysis: І period (1951–1959) – the actualization of ideas of preschool children`s labor education in pedagogical press: I stage (1951–1956) – the search for ways to improve the labor education of children of preschool age; ІІ stage (1956–1959) – the activization of publications in the pedagogical press on the problem of labor education of children of preschool age; IІ period (1959–1973) – the strengthening of the connection of preschool children`s labor education with life; its stages: I stage (1959–1964) – the domination of the labor education idea on the pages of periodical press; II stage (1964 – 1973) – the realization of ideas of preschool children`s labor education in practical activity of preschool educational establishments; IIІ period (1973–1984) – the improvement of the content of child labor based on psychological and pedagogical principles: I stage (1973–1977) – the development of ideas of preschool children`s labor education as a mean of well-rounded education; II stage (1977–1984) – the implementation of a comprehensive approach to labor education for the achievement of harmonious development; IV period (1984–1989) – the normative and creative period of the development of content, forms and methods of preschool children`s labor education. The ideas of preschool children`s labor education on the pages of the pedagogical press in different periods were identified and revealed: in 1951–1959 – the idea of conscious discipline; teaching children of socially useful kinds of work; the idea of forming the needs for the labor at the same level as the formation of the need for the game; 1959–1973 – the main idea was the labor education in correlation with moral education; 1973–1984 – the idea of comprehensive harmonious development in labor activity; 1984–1989 – the idea of educating a person in creative activity. The development of ideas of labor education at the theoretical level and its introduction into practice, based on the didactic concept of each stage, is explored. The development of the ideas of labor education on the pages of the pedagogical press has been followed. The change of purpose of the approaches, means, methods, forms of implementation of ideas has been revealed. On the basis of the analysis of journal publications, systematization, quantitative and qualitative characteristics of publications on the organization of labor education of preschool children were carried out. The algorithm of development of the program of preschool children`s labor education in 50–80s of the 20th century was revealed and researched. The ideas of preschool children`s labor education deserving attention and additional study and adaptation in the modern system of preschool education in Ukraine are singled out. The perspective tendencies of the labor education of preschool children in the modern conditions of the development of preschool education in Ukraine are found out.
