Essay

The thesis presents a solution for an actual scientific and practical task – expanding the fuel base for the exploitation of transport means by application of ethyl esters of vegetable oils predicting reliability of the fuel system elements. A structural analysis demonstrates how reliable is the fuel system of the diesel engine of the means of transport. Mathematical expressions were obtained for determining the probability of fail-safe operation of the fuel system using different types of fuel. As a result of using the developed mathematical apparatus we obtained dependencies that allow us to determine the degree of influence of different types of biofuels on the reliability indicators of the fuel system. Experimental way resulted in obtaining dependences of effective power and specific fuel consumption when using mixed fuels based on ethyl esters of rapeseed, sunflower and soybean oils. The dependence of the reduction of harmful substances emissions into the atmosphere in the exhaust gases by using different types of mixed fuels was stated. On the basis of the obtained dependences, a formula for adjusting the maintenance period is offered taking into account the content of ethyl esters of vegetable oils in diesel fuel.
