Tymkiv I. Dynamics of population of Ternopil region in 1950–1960 in the context of development of industrial sphere and agriculture

Dissertation is devoted to the study of the dynamics of social and ethnic structure of Ternopil region in 1950s and 1960's years XX century in the context of industry and agriculture land development. The work reveals the influence of contemporary socioeconomic system to the alteration of the region population, its ethnic structure and peculiarities of the demographic policy of the Soviet leadership. The influence of political factors (Sovietization, Russification) on the structure of the region population is described. The dynamics of the number of individual ethnic groups (Ukrainians, Russians, Poles and Jews) living in the region during the studied period is shown. The purpose of the dissertation research is to analyze the peculiarities of the dynamics of Ternopil region population in the 1950's and 1960's. in the context of the development of industry and agriculture in the region. To achieve this goal it is necessary to fulfill the following main objectives: – find out the state of scientific development problems, the source base of research theoretical and methodological basics of the work; – distinguish the peculiarities of socio-economic and ethnic development of Ternopil region in the investigated period; – analyze population dynamics of the region, to find out the main factors affecting the change of place of its settlement; – investigate the positive and negative impacts of industrialization and collectivization on the demographic situation in the Ternopil region; – assess the impact of migration and repatriation processes on the dynamics of the region. The object of research is the Ternopil region in the 1950's and 1960's, XX century. Methods of scientific research. The methodological basis of the thesis define the principles of historicism, scientism and objectivity. The study of such a complex multi-faceted facility, which the dynamics of the population is, requires a systematic approach and study each element of the system and its interaction with other elements, is ethnic groups, requires the use of special methods of auxiliary historical sciences. In the course of the study, methods of economic analysis were used: graphical and tabular. The practical significance of the results obtained is determined by the totality of the definitions of the provisions, which are characterized by scientific novelty and reveal the peculiarities of the dynamics of the Ternopil region population in the investigated period. Materials, generalizations and research results can be used in further comprehensive scientific developments on economic history, historical regional studies, as well as in the formation of strategies for the economic development of the region. They are relevant in the study of history, sociology, economics and demography.
