Prykhodko M. Ukrainian state of the times of hetman Pavlo Skroropadskyi in the context of European geopolitics

The thesis presents the analysis of preconditions and factors of influence on the processes of formation of the Pavlo Skoropadskyi hetmanate's diplomatic service, as well as assessment of the contribution of the diplomatic corps to the formation of the Ukrainian State in 1918. The main accents in the study are arranged in such a way as to review as much comprehensively and critically as possible the assessment of foreign policy of the Pavlo Skoropadskyi hetmanate's, the processes of forming and functioning of the Pavlo Skoropadskyi hetmanate's diplomatic corps, the main achievements of the Ukrainian State of hetmanate's times, and its place in the geopolitical space of post-war Europe. A special achievement of the thesis can be considered the presentation by the author of expediency and rationality of the use of financial resources of the Ukrainian State for the maintenance and expansion of the network of diplomatic representations. A thorough analysis of the quality of institutional and institutional support of the Pavlo Skoropadskyi hetmanate's state apparatus and, in particular, the analysis of the organizational component of the civil service in the foreign affairs department is carried out. The contribution of the diplomatic corps and special forces of hetmanate in the implementation of the geopolitical strategy of Pavlo Skoropadskyi is covered. In particular, the emphasis is made on the activities of individual diplomatic consulates and representations of the Ukrainian State in the countries of the Quadruple Alliance in the context of the confrontation of Hetman Pavlo Skoropadskyi and the Bolshevik regime of Russia. The thesis logically and thoroughly traces the evolution of foreign policy and foreign economic views of the Ukrainian State during the Pavlo Skoropadskyi hetmanate. The author of the thesis examines the reasons for changing the strategic vector, as well as the influence of various historical and geopolitical factors on the activity of the foreign policy department of the Ukrainian State. Not only the influence of certain figures of the Pavlo Skoropadskyi hetmanate's period on strategic priorities in foreign policy is covered, but the conclusion is drawn about the consequences of such activity and its historical significance. The thesis reassesses the influence of Hetman P. Skoropadskyi on the processes of formation of the relations of the Ukrainian State with the individual countries of Europe. The main prerequisites for the formation of foreign political traditions of the Ukrainian State and, in particular, in its relations with the countries of Western Europe and the USA are covered.
