Essay

Dissertation is dedicated to the investigation of influence of maternal hypo- and hyperthyroidism on the adrenal glands of their offspring on successive stages of pre- and postnatal ontogenesis. It was revealed that adrenal glands morphogenesis in rats continues after birth and is basically completed by the postnatal day 10th, beginning from which adrenal medulla expressed strong LCA, PNA, CNFA, ??WGA, SNA and LABA binding. Maternal hypothyroidism induced delay in adrenal development, which was manifested by absence of islets of chromaffine cells on postnatal day 1st. On the postnatal day 10th under thyroid imbalance it was documented increased proliferation and apoptosis rates in the adrenal cortex accompanied with decreased intensityof both processes in the adrenal medulla. Lectins can be recommended for selective labeling of rat adrenal glands structural components, namely: LCA, PNA, CNFA, ??WGA, SNA and LABA – of adrenal medulla; PNA – of chromaffin cells secretory granules, of adrenocorticocytes Golgi complex; LCA and LABA – of chromaffin cells Golgi complex; NPA – of activated macrophages; SNA – of eosinophils migrating from blood; WGA – of epinephrocytes, norepinephrocytes and apoptosomes in within the adrenal medulla.
