Kukulenko Y. Higher Pedagogical Education in Ukrainian SSR at the Final Stage of the Soviet Era (1985-1991).

The paper deals with the organization of the network of pedagogical higher educational establishments of Ukraine, discusses the issue of consolidation of higher education institutions, their status change or renaming. Structural internal changes in pedagogical institutions are observed. The author showed positive changes in the quantitative composition of the teaching staff, which, in her opinion, was caused by the increase in the admission of students to the education, rejuvenation of the teaching staff etc. At the same time, due to the increase in the number of teachers, the quality level began to decline, whereby the percentage of teachers with academic degrees decreased. Attention is drawn to the increase of plans for admission to higher education institutions. In the universities there is a clear system of vocational guidance for attracting capable young people to the education, which showed inclinations for pedagogical activity. The PhD student described various forms of preparation of entrants.
