The thesis is aimed at the solution of the problem of developing future teachers’ phonetic competence in English as the second foreign language after German. The first part of the study explores the theoretical grounds of developing professional phonetic competence in the second foreign language. Within the structure of the professional phonetic competence in English as the second foreign language after German the following components are distinguished: linguistic, methodological, pragmatic, and reflexive. These components are based on the professional phonetic competence in the first foreign language as well as the professional phonetic knowledge, professional phonetic skills, phonetic methodological skills and professional phonetic awareness which are specific for the professional phonetic competence in English after German.
