This paper considers the folk art of Sokalshchyna in the ethnocultural near border Ukrainian-Polish territory. The research is focused on the following five components of the object: traditional garments, embroidery, weaving, ceramic art, painted Easter eggs which are considered in specific sections of the dissertation. The first general section is dedicated to historiography, formation of the source study base which includes artefacts of the exhibitions and funds of the museums of various levels, as well as the observational materials collected during expeditions to the towns and villages of Sokalshchyna. The total amount of exhibited objects studied from around one hundred localities is more than one thousand. Also, the first section highlights methods used for the study.
