Torayev K. The development of the composition and technology of a combined drug based on metformin and benfotiamine

A systematic methodological approach to the creation of a pharmaceutical combination on the basis of known active pharmaceutical ingredients for the development of new combined medications has been developed. For the first time the new antidiabetic combination of Metformin hydrochloride (400 mg) and Benfotiamine (20 mg) has been theoretically grounded and proposed, and the pharmacological activity of the new combination of active pharmaceutical ingredients has been studied and its superiority over the standard treatment regimen by the mediated therapeutic dose of metformin has been proved. On the basis of the complex of conducted studies, the composition and technology of the new combined drug antidiabetic action on the basis of Metformin hydrochloride (400 mg) and Benfotiamine (20 mg) has been experimentally developed. The technological scheme, the draft technological regulations for production, as well as the specification and project of the methods of quality control (Capsule No. 20 (10 x 2), Benfomet) have been developed. The novelty of researches has been confirmed and protected by the Ukraine's declarative patent on utility model № u201612858 (05.10.2017) «Pharmaceutical composition with antidiabetic action for the treatment of type II diabetes mellitus» and the informational letter «Antidiabetic agent»: informational letter № 53-2018 (25.10. 2017).
