Essay

Study object: sarcoidosis of the respiratory organs; objective – to study the morbidity, prevalence and morphology of sarcoidosis of the respiratory organs in Ivano-Frankivsk region for a 5-year period, to improve the diagnostics of resistance to glucocorticosteroid (GCS) therapy based on the development of additional immunological criteria for the assessment of granulomatous process activity; research methods – common clinical, instrumental, functional, laboratorial, biochemical, statistical; scientific novelty – the research work was the first to study the epidemiological indices of sarcoidosis in Precarpathian region; the study made it possible to enhance scientific data on the lack of efficacy of patients’ treatment – resistance to routine GCS-therapy with methylprednisolone in the evaluation of its short-term results (3-month treatment), which requires improvement of its timely diagnosis; the research work was the first to carry out the comparative study of the dynamics of density indices of lung dissemination due to the results of computer densitometry of lungs, markers of acute phase of inflammation – C-reactive protein (CRP) and proinflammatory cytokines, TNF-alfa and IL-2 levels in bronchoalveolar lavage and peripheral blood after the 3-month GCS therapy; it has been established that after the treatment the dynamics of radiological data (density of lung dissemination in Hounsfield units) and changes in the indices of CRP, TNF-alfa and IL-2 had unidirectional character. Field of application – medicine.
