Object – professional training of future social teachers in the institutions of higher pedagogical education; aim – to determine the influence of theoretically substantiated and experimentally tested system of training future social teachers in forming high school students’ culture of life safety on the level of their readiness to develop the given culture in high school students; methods – theoretical, empirical, of mathematical statistics; novelty – the research is the first to theoretically substantiate the integral system of training future social teachers in forming high school students’ culture of life safety; the definition of the term “culture of life safety” and its structure; the content of personality’s culture of life safety forming in educational institutions; ensuring students’ awareness of life safety and forming their striving for life safety; activities directed at the development of high school students’ stereotypes of safety-oriented behaviour in everyday life and in extreme situations are analysed and specified; the criteria and indices of future social teachers’ readiness to forming high school students’ culture of life safety are studied; the methods and forms of professional training of future social teachers in forming high school students’ culture of life safety are researched; results – the teaching materials covering the curriculum disciplines for future social teachers and social workers (“Introduction to Speciality”, “Social and Pedagogical Activity in Educational Institutions”, “Technologies of Social and Pedagogical Activity”), course materials and recommendations for teaching the optional “Social and Pedagogical Activity” course oriented at forming students’ culture of life safety and providing for generalization and expanding students’ theoretical knowledge have been worked out. Theoretical ideas and practical results of the research will be helpful to social teachers working with high school students; to the pedagogical staff of teacher training institutions in teaching students for their future profession, for designing teaching programmes and textbooks; to students working on course projects; field – pedagogy.
