The aim of research: the coverage of the history of the transformation of the Administrative-Territorial System of Katerynoslav-Dnipropetrovsk region in connection with the change of forms of state system during the XIXth - the first third of the XXth century. The subject of research: the transformation of the Administrative-Territorial System of Katerynoslav-Dnipropetrovsk region during the XIXth – the first third of the XXth century, namely, changes in the directions of territorial policy, the external and internal borders of the province, the formation of local authorities. The results of research: for the first time in historiography the subject of a special complex study was the transformation of the Administrative-Territorial System of Katerynoslav-Dnipropetrovsk region during 1802-1939. The changes of the external and internal territorial boundaries of Katerynoslav-Dnipropetrovsk region have been determined, features of implementation of administrative-territorial reforms in the territory of the period of the Russian Empire, the Provisional Government, the Central Rada, Hetmanate, the Directory, the White Guard movement, and Soviet power have been identified. Both the Russian Empire and the Soviet state used the reforms of the Administrative-Territorial system as a means of unification, bureaucratization, integration and denationalization of Katerynoslav-Dnipropetrovsk region, and not as a means of satisfying national, regional and local needs. Over the past two centuries, only Cossack palaces and some administrative-territorial units that were proposed by representatives of national governments of the period of the Ukrainian Revolution who tried to break away from the imperial system met these requirements, however, they have not been implemented. The sphere of usage: in further studies on the history of Southeast Ukraine, the history of the Administrative-Territorial organization of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, Ukraine, and in generalizing works and lectures on the history of Ukraine, historical regional studies.
