Shevchenko М. Academician K.H. Voblyi as economic geographer, historician and regional ethnographer

The object of research: the figure of Academician Kostiantyn Hryhorovych Voblyi – the founder of the scientific school of economic geography and regional studies in the early 20th century. The aim of research: the study of life and activity of Kostiantyn Hryhorovych Voblyi in different periods of development of science and education of Ukraine, as well as determination of its contribution to the study of natural resources and regional studies of the first third of the 20th century. The subject of research: the formation of the worldview Kostiantyn Hryhorovych Voblyi, organizational, scientific and pedagogical activity of the scientist in the conditions of socio-political events of the 20's and 30's of the 20th century. The results of research: in the dissertation, on the basis of a wide range of sources and literature, the life and activity of the Academician Kostiantyn Hryhorovych Voblyi (1876-1947) have been investigated comprehensively. The factors and stages of the formation of his outlook have been determined. The pedagogical activity of a scientist at the Kyiv Commercial Institute and St. Volodymyr University has been covered. The scientific-organizational work of Kostiantyn Hryhorovych Voblyi in the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences has been analysed. It is shown how the formation took place under the leadership of the academician of the scientific school. His epistolary heritage has been introduced into the scientific circulation. Manuscripts and published scientific works of the scientist on questions of economic geography, economic history and regional studies have been researched. The sphere of usage: in the scientific works on the history of Ukraine, the creation of biographical encyclopedic dictionaries. The results of the work can be used in the development of special courses in economic history and regional studies education projects.
