Lytvyn V. Psychological and legal bases of improvement of patrol policemen’s professional activity

n Ukraine are described in the dissertation, the main components of the system of psychological support are described and the directions of increasing the effectiveness of the patrol policemen’s activity are described. The typical for the patrol police activities psychological peculiarities are determined; an approximate model of the patrol policeman’s personality is created, which is represented by the following groups of properties and qualities: motivational, intellectual, emotional, social-psychological, volitional. It is proved that more than 90 % of candidates entering to the patrol police are guided by the utilitarian motives and their own interests, which is evidence of the imperfection of professional psychological selection. The necessity of making a significant practical component in the patrol policemen’s professional psychological training is substantiated, the program of communicative preparation for behavior in conflict situations of professional activity is suggested and approved, which involves the acquisition of skills and abilities to predict the maturing of the conflict and apply measures to minimize it.
