The work is concerned with not enough study phenomenon Ukrainian folk art— Opillia folk costume the last third of the XIX — the first half of the XX centuries and compositional features of its decor. The thesis is based on the clothes items from collections of Ukrainian and foreign museums, private collections of the folk dress, graphic and painterly pictures of Ukrainian folk dress, photo materials, archival documents, published sources and materials of field studies. The thesis is based on the integrated approach to studying Opillia folk dress decor and the art analysis method. The decor schemes and its placement in some components, as well as the principles of combination constructive and plane decor in the one items are characterized. The prevailing ornamentation types depending on the techniques of executed as well as dominant motif inherent to Opillia folk dress ornaments are determined. The characteristic coloration of Opillia folk clothes complex of the last third of the XIX — first half of the XX centuries was also analyzed.
