Scientific innovation of the obtained results consists in the fact that for the first time the essence of the notion «ethno-cultural socialization of students» was theoretically grounded, approaches to define the notion «socialization mechanism» were generalized, mechanisms (identification, mimicry, traditional, institutional, stylized, interpersonal) of indexes and levels of ethno-cultural socialization of students were proved; content-technological providing of students’ ethno-cultural socialization in the educational environment of the higher education institution characterized (content filling, forms and methods).
The thesis defines the ethno-cultural socialization of personality as a process of acquirement of ethnical and cultural values, behavioral examples of the ethnic community; formation of the ability to preserve and enrich the national culture, traditions, customs.
Educational environment of the higher educational institution is considered as a whole unity of the socially created conditions, possibilities and resources for the education of the personality, which have developed directly inside the institution, which executes the educational functions, provides gaining of the social experience, professional and personal self-realization and self-expression of the students.
Peculiarities of the ethno-cultural socialization of the students in the educational environment of the higher educational facility are characterized: peculiarities of the influence from the the educational process; social-psychological peculiarities of the age; peculiarities of the personal and professional development of the student; peculiarities of the educational design in the higher educational institution; peculiarities of the subculture in the higher educational institution. Author’s definition of the ethno-cultural socialization of students is offered, which is interpreted as a process of adoption, acceptance and personal transformation by the students of the ethnical and cultural values, behavioral examples, securing the ethno-cultural identification, self-determination and tolerance in the socio-cultural environment of the higher educational institution. Mechanisms of ethno-cultural socialization of the students (identification, mimicry, traditional, institutional, stylized, interpersonal) are separated, their indexes are defined and characterized.
Practical value of the obtained research results lies in the introduction of the qualitatively new content-technological providing of the ethno-cultural socialization of the students; methodical recommendations for the organization managers of the social-educational work with the students, pedagogues as to the efficiency increase of the ethno-cultural socialization of the students in the educational environment of the higher educational institution.
