Essay

The dissertation is the first comprehensive study of journalistic and editorial activity of Petro Volyniak (pseudonym of Petro Kuzmovych Chechet (1907–1969)). It is proved that the study of the information space of the Ukrainian diaspora is an actual multifaceted problem, which unites issues of ideological, cultural-historical, linguistic character, demonstrates the specificity and regularities of the emigration environment. It was explored the formation of Petro Volyniak as journalist, that happened on literary basis. Editorial projects by Petro Volyniak of Austrian and Canadian stage were analyzed. Architectonics of the «New Days» (1950–1969) and «Sunflower» (1956–1961) months were characterized. On the material of publications in the journal «New Days», the informational and analytical genres of journalism of Petro Volyniak were investigated. The ideological aspect plays a significant role in the analytical publications of Petro Volyniak. The analytical texts outline the nature of the links between the New Days and the Ukrainian diaspora press. The literary-critical discourse of analytical journalism by Petro Volyniak is singled out.
