Aleksandrov P. Media Interpretation of Modern Threats.

The wide range of media products containing the threat motives is considered in the thesis. Analyzing and systemizing these media products the researcher considers foreign and national science experience in studying media aspects of a phenomenon of fear and anxiety in other disciplines (philosophy, psychology, cultural science, etc.). The main result of the study is the creation of the functioning of media technologies concept for the modern threats interpretation. According to this concept, the media representation of the threat is based on a comprehensive appeal to the universal human archetypes and myths of mass consciousness and their national characteristics. Appeal to a fear of danger occurs through the use of linguistic, visual or contextual threat concepts that correlate with the constructed images of danger in popular culture and art (fiction, cinema, gaming industry, etc.), that is, to a large extent, information about danger transmitted through an emotional-sensual images. In this regard, the media interpretation of information about the level of threat can be significantly different from its objective assessment by qualified experts, which raises the problem of adequate coverage of a socially important event or phenomenon.
