Matviichuk N. Stepan and Myron Kuropas in socio-political and cultural life of the Ukrainian diaspora.

The thesis presents the results of a complex study of the role of the Stepan and Myron Kuropas in public, political and cultural life of the diaspora in the USA. The aim of the thesis is to analyse and study the way of life of the older generation of the Kuropas family, i.e. Stepan and Myron; to determine their contribution to the Ukrainian diaspora functioning in the USA. Stepan and Myron Kuropas had a significant impact on the activities of Ukrainian institutions in the United States and the development of political and ideological norms of the social consciousness of the Ukrainian diaspora in this country. The thesis reconstructed the biography of Stepan Kuropas (1900‒2001) – the son of poor peasants from the Peremyshl region. In the course of the study, we have found that, despite the military vicissitudes and difficult living conditions, the formation of the worldview of Stepan Kuropas was under the influence of works on Ukrainian history and Ukrainian literature, which contributed to the good command of the Ukrainian language.
