Essay

There are currently no scientific works available in our biomedical literature to study the morphology of masseter muscles in iodine-deficient conditions and in hypothyroidism in the age aspect. Therefore, the objective of our study was to determine the peculiarities of the structural organization of the masseter and lateral pterygoid muscles of the rats at the stages of postnatal ontogenesis and their morphofunctional peculiarities in experimentally modeled iodine-deficient conditions, hypothyroidism. Research, structural age reorganization of the blood vessels and muscle fibers of the masticatory muscles. In conditions of iodine deficiency and In iodine deficiency with the addition of goitriferous products the lumen of the arterial vessels is narrowed in the masticatory muscles, their walls thicken, the amount of muscle fibers with intermediate activity of succinate dehydrogenase decreases with simultaneous growth of muscle fibers with low activity of succinate dehydrogenase. In the dynamics of the development of hypothyroidism in all links of the blood vessels of the masticatory muscles the changes are deepened. There is a tendency to decrease muscle fibers with intermediate activity of succinate dehydrogenase, whereas the proportion of muscle fibers with low activity of succinate dehydrogenase increases. Key-words: masseter muscles, blood vessels, muscle fibers, ontogenesis, iodine deficiency, hypothyroidism. Branch-Medicine.
