Essay

The classification of current fatigue assessment methods of ship structures has been further developed. The expediency of the experimental and theoretic method has been shown. Dependencies of the experimental and theoretic method for fatigue assessment of ship structures in conditions of stochastic loading have been developed for the first time. It was proposed for the first time to use results of the statistical treatment of published data of weld toe radii and angles in butt and fillet welds for the determination of stress concentration factors due to welds in ship structural assemblies. The method for determining stress concentration factors for ship structural welded assemblies as the product of stress concentration factors due to the overall geometry and due to the weld have been improved through the determination of the latter on the basis of its generalized geometric parameters. Methodologies and the computer program for solution of typical fatigue problems were developed on the basis of the experimental and theoretic method.
