Essay

The dissertation is a historical and pedagogical research aimed at establishing the peculiarities of organizing control of future foreign language teachers’ educational activity in Ukrainian higher pedagogical educational institutions at the end of the ХХ – at the beginning of the ХХІ century. A retrospective analysis of the historical development of the theory and practice of organizing the control of future foreign language teachers’educational activities in higher education institutions in Ukraine at the turn of XX - XXI centuries was carried out on the basis of analysis of philosophical and pedagogical works; historical literature; publications in periodicals of a pedagogical nature; monographs, abstracts, dissertations on various aspects of the researched problem; documentary sources (legislative acts, normative documents, concepts of education development, archival materials), which regulated the control of educational activities of future foreign language teachers. On the grounds of the historical and pedagogical analysis the socio-political, organizational and pedagogical preconditions for organizing the control of future foreign language teachers’ educational activity in Ukrainian higher pedagogical educational institutions at the turn of XX – XXI centuries were revealed. It was found out that the researched problem developed in stages within the chosen chronological boundaries: the I stage (1980–1990) – the stage of the formalized approach to the organization of knowledge control under the conditions of excessive centralization of the educational system, the II stage (1991–2004) – the stage of differentiation and individualization of educational activities control in Ukrainian higher pedagogical educational institutions, unification of the requirements for its implementation, the III stage (2005–2014) – the stage of introduction of rating control and implementation of the communicative, learner-centered and competence approaches to future foreign language teachers training It was established that the practice of Ukrainian higher pedagogical educational institutions during the researched period presents an interesting experience in organizing control of future foreign language teachers’ academic achievements, its effectiveness was provided by the creation of appropriate teaching and methodological support; application of a wide range of control forms and methods, transition to subject-subject and computer-mediated interaction in the process of students’ evaluation. It was proved that the experience of organizing the control of the educational activity of future foreign language teachers in pedagogical institutions of higher education during the researched period has not lost its relevance. Therefore, the prospects of its creative application under modern conditions have been defined.
