Essay

This dissertation is devoted to the theoretical and empirical substantiation of psychological factors and conditions of the effectiveness of a group project activity in higher educational institutions students in the process of learning a foreign language. The thesis analyzes the concept of a group project activity of students in the process of learning a foreign language, outlines the main components of psychological readiness of students to GPA, substantiates the system of criteria and indicators of the effectiveness of GPA, the system of psychological and pedagogical conditions of GPA’s effectiveness of students during a foreign language learning. The conceptual model of increasing the effectiveness of group project activity of students of higher education institutions is developed, with the following distinguished components: conceptual and purpose-oriented, functional, structural and step-by-step, diagnostic. Scientific knowledge about the project group of students as an active subject-subject entity aimed at the solution of a specific project task, functioning of which has a distinct metacognitive and reflexive character in the «zone of immediate development» has been extended. As a result of the empirical research, the peculiarities of psychological readiness of students of non-language specialties of higher education institutions in terms of the implementation of group project activity during a foreign language learning in the context of motivational, cognitive-operational, communicative, self-regulatory components have been disclosed. The results of the empirical verification of the conceptual model for increasing the effectiveness of group project activity by introducing the relevant program for students of non-linguistic specialties are presented and analyzed.
