Essay

The object of the research: the handicraft industry of Kharkiv city in the period of the New Economic Policy. The purpose of the research: the comprehensive analysis of development of the handicraft industry of Kharkiv city in the period of the New Economic Policy. The methods: analysis, synthesis, generalization, description, abstraction; structural-systemic and statistical-analytical. Scientific novelty: for the first time a the comprehensive analysis of development of the handicraft industry of Kharkiv city in the period of the New Economic Policy was conducted; the study of historiographic work has shown, that the chosen problem has not yet become a topic of separate scientific research; methods of state regulation in the sphere of small industry of Kharkiv - legislative, tax and credit policy are revealed, as well as administrative and non-economic means of influence on handicraftsman and artisans are shown; conducted a comprehensive analysis of handicraftsman and artisans of Kharkiv through the prism of studying the national, socio-professional composition and economic position of small manufacturers; the main stages in the development of handicraft industry of the city were clarified; the importance of the handicraft industry in the field of small-scale production of Kharkiv and the main factors, that led to the decline of handicraft industry in the late 1920's are highlighted. Practical value of research is to use the materials of the dissertation for writing of generalizing works on the history of Ukraine, regional studies, to study regional features of the new economic policy, to prepare lectures and special courses on the history of Ukraine, domestic private entrepreneurship, etc. Sphere of use: higher educational institutions.
