Serediuk M. Social and political activity of Volodymyr Tselevych (1890 – 1942)

The dissertation analyzes the social and political activities of the well-known Galician politician Volodymyr Tselevych in the first third of the 20th century within the context of socio-political processes in the region. Much attention is given to the features of formation of his outlook, in particular, that distinct national basis patriotic consciousness of V. Tselevych laid the educational and research institutions of Galicia. The politician's contribution to establishing the Ukrainian Civic Committee (UGC), the Ukrainian Military Organization (UVO) is considered, singled out the terms of his associates, among them – the future leaders of Galician national parties, national-cultural organizations of land. It is noted that he made great efforts to protect the national, cultural, social, and political rights of Ukrainians in Eastern Galicia, while was taking part in the UGC, UVO during the national liberation struggle, the Polish-Ukrainian War 1918 – 1919, through which he suffered repression and persecution of Polish power.
