The object of study - rigidity - flexibility as a psychological phenomenon. The subject of the study - features of time representations in individuals with different manifestations of rigidity. Purpose of the study: to determine, theoretically and empirically, features of time representations in individuals with different manifestations. Research methods. In order to solve the set research problems, the following were used in the work: theoretical methods (problem-logical method, induction, abstraction, generalization, systematization), which were used for generalization of theoretical and methodological bases; methods of psychological diagnostics and methods of mathematical data processing (descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, one-way ANOVA), cluster analysis, criteria: chi-square (χ2), Student's (t-criterion), Schaeff index. Microsoft Excel XP spreadsheet applications and SPSS for Windows v 22.0 statistical analysis software). The method of psychological diagnostics contained: Tomsk rigidity questionnaire (GV Zalevsky); methods of "Arithmetic Problem Solving" (A. Lachins); "Word Maze"; "Comparison of concepts"; Directional Associative Experiment; method of subjective scaling; Temperament Structure Questionnaire (OCT) VM Rusalov, Test Stroop Effect. The scientific novelty of the obtained results of the dissertation research is that features of time representations for civil servants with different types of rigidity were first established; shows high level of rigidity in one third of civil servants and persistence of symptom complex of rigidity; demonstrated that civil servants are more prone to display rigidities, sensitive rigidity, premorbid rigidity; found differences in the manifestations of rigidity on the following scales: rigid rigidity, sensitive rigidity, rigidity as a condition in different age groups;
clarified that in the structure of the cognitive process rigidity of mental operations and processes of conceptual and associative thinking are independent; that, on a subjective scale, civil servants treat time with ease and are generally satisfied with it; it is not stretched, not compressed, not long or short, but waiting can cause a feeling of danger; rapidly flowing and perceived as whole, rich;
further developed: the concept of a direct relationship between personal rigidity and cognitive; cognitive rigidity is higher on the arithmetic material. The practical significance of the dissertation is that the results of the research are included in the content of teaching courses "General psychology", "Differential psychology", "Age psychology", "Psychology of work" and introduced into the scientific research and practical activity of the department of general psychology and psychology of personality development I.I.
