The dissertation paper uncovers the essence of the city development management as an object of socio-geographical research, systematizes modern streams in foreign research in the field of city development management, and justifies the methodology of socio-geographical study of city development management. Socio-geographical approach to the study of city development management, which includes theoretical, methodological, analytical and synthetic stages, is described and substantiated in the thesis. The factors which influence on the development of the city (natural geographic, socio-geographical, etc.) are determined. Based on the correlation analysis, relation between the indicators is found. The functional zoning of Zaporozhzhia-city in the context of administrative districts is analyzed. The peculiarities of perception of administrative districts by inhabitants of Zaporizhzhia-city are revealed and analyzed. The essence and perception of 7 cases of transformations of Zaporizhzhia urban space (2000-2016) are analyzed and perception features of these transformations by the city residents are determined. Based on the results of the survey, the perception of the industrial component in the development of Zaporizhzhia-city was carried out. The strategic directions of Zaporizhzhia-city development as of a center industrial tourism are proposed and justified. A touristic product – a tour “History of the city of Zaporizhzhia and its industrial power” is created. The documents regulating strategic development of Zaporizhzhia-city are analyzed according to their correspondence with the principles of integral and sustainable development.
