In the dissertation, based on the study of scientific literature, archival sources, analysis of theory and practice, a comprehensive study of the legal education of students in the family-school space in Ukraine (the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century) is carried out.
Object of the study: the legal education of students.
Subject of the study: the genesis of the legal education of students in the family-school space (the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century).
Purpose of the study: based on a systematic retrospective study of pedagogical theory and practice, revealing the genesis of the legal education of students in the family-school space of Ukraine (the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century) and outline the prospects for the creative use of progressive ideas in the modern educational field.
The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time: the problem of the legal education of students in the family-school space (the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century) is investigated the periodization of legal education in the family-school space from 1984 to 2017 is justified, the main trends of each period are determined: I period - 1984-1990 – conservative and ideological (the ideological and communist orientation of the educational process, the activation of parent committees and pedagogical education, the introduction of social sciences); II period - 1991-2002 - search and controversial (a crisis of moral values in society, an introduction of invariant and variable disciplines of legal content, a qualitative and quantitative increase in the relationship between social institutions (school, family, state); III period - 2003-2017 – competent and democratic (I subperiod - 2003-2008; II subperiod - 2009-2017) (actualization of patriotism and democratic values in society, formation of civic competence; the search for new effective forms of work with parents to ensure the upbringing of a state-conscious citizen of the state; expansion of the content, forms and methods of legal education work with students); identified factors that influenced the genesis of the content, forms and methods of legal education in the family-school space in the study period: social and economic (dominance of leading ideologies and social values; economic development of the country), cultural and educational (changing the paradigm of legal education, reforming education), substantive (legal framework, structure and organization of legal education in society, content of social sciences) progressive ideas of legal education of students in the family-school space of a modern country are identified: the integration of the family and the school to ensure unity in educational ideals, approaches and principles in the education of a state-conscious citizen of the state; joint participation of all participants in the educational process in law-raising public projects and programs; development of value-forming and practice-oriented content of school legal education; cross-cutting advocacy in the educational process; the development of student self-government; cooperation of students with the authorities; creation of foster care centers; and determining the prospects for the creative realization of progressive experience. The essence of the concepts “family-school space”, “legal education in the conditions of family-school space” is clarified. The provisions that reveal the features of legal education in the conditions of family-school space have been further developed; coverage of the source base of research on legal education work.
The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that its results are reflected in the special course “Organization of legal education in the conditions of family-school space” and methodological recommendations “Content, forms and methods of organizing legal education in the conditions of family-school space: historical and pedagogical retrospective”. The developed materials can be used in the process of teaching the disciplines of the historical and pedagogical cycle, the preparation of term papers and dissertations in teacher training institutions.
