Melnykov E. Implementation of military reforms on the territory of Ukraine (the second half of XIX – early XX century).

Object: reforming the imperial armed forces and the system of military control in the territory of sub-Russian Ukraine in the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; purpose: to analyze the directions of military reforms in the Ukrainian lands in the second half of the nineteenth - early twentieth centuries; methods: general scientific (analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction), general historical (chronological and historical-comparative), interdisciplinary (citation, content analysis, interpretive analysis); the principles of historicism and impartiality; the work uses complex, systematic, value approaches. The scientific novelty of the research is conditioned by the very statement of the problem, in which the implementation of military reforms on the Ukrainian lands in the second half of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century. for the first time in Ukrainian historiography have become the subject of special study. For the first time: the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of military reforms on the territory of Ukraine in the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were determined; a comprehensive study of the reform of the military-district system in Ukraine in the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries was carried out. as an integral part of the development of Ukrainian military affairs and the development of national armed forces; periodic reformation of military districts on the territory of Ukraine in the studied period is proposed; characterized by qualitative and quantitative indicators of their activity; a complete picture of the reform of the military-district system in the territory of sub-Russian Ukraine has been reproduced; the materials from the funds of the Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine (Kyiv), the Central State Archives of Higher Authorities and Administration of Ukraine, the State Archives of Odessa Oblast, and the State Archives of Kharkiv Oblast were introduced into scientific circulation. military reforms in the territory of Ukraine in the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of using the results obtained for further scientific development. The materials of the research can be used by teachers of higher education institutions in teaching the course of history of Ukraine and thematic special courses, in the preparation of lessons on the history of Ukraine in educational institutions and in the dissemination of historical knowledge in the environment of school youth. The theoretical findings and results obtained in the study can be the basis for the preparation of materials for encyclopedic publications, manuals.
