The thesis reflects the results of scientific research on the training of the future teacher-philologist for the organization of cultural and recreational activities for rural school pupils on the principles of Ukrainian studies.
For the first time the thesis identifies and justifies the totality of pedagogical conditions necessary for training the future teacher-philologist for organizing cultural and recreational activities for rural school pupils on the basis of Ukrainian studies (focused motivation of future teachers-philologists to study the peculiarities of organizing cultural and recreational activities for rural school pupils on the basis of Ukrainian studies; the students’ obtaining theoretical knowledge about the essence, the content of cultural and recreational activities and methods of its implementation in the rural school on the basis of Ukrainian studies; the improvement of future teachers-philologists’ practical skills for organizing cultural and recreational activities, which is necessary in further pedagogical practice).
A model of training the future teacher-philologist for the organization of cultural and recreational activities for rural school pupils on the principles of Ukrainian studies has been developed and tested, which comprises the following units: methodology and target unit (target, approaches, principles), contents and process unit (stages, contents, forms, methods, technology), assessment and results unit (criteria, levels, results).
According to the developed criteria and indicators, the levels of students-philologists’ readiness to organize cultural and recreational activities for rural school pupils on the principles of Ukrainian studies are highlighted: high, medium, low.
The essence of the key concepts of the research work has been clarified: "Ukrainian studies" (components of the holistic system of knowledge about Ukraine and world Ukrainians; Ukraine in international relations); "rural school" (institution of general secondary education in rural areas, which is the center of training, education and comprehensive development of the individual, the formation of national consciousness, the best moral qualities and social activeness of the young generation); "cultural and recreational activities" (leisure time, filled with individual or collective creative activities based on the cultural experience of the people).
The readiness of the future teacher-philologist for organizing cultural and recreational activities for rural school pupils is denoted as a complex structural-system education which allows a specialist to successfully perform his educational duties, using existing experience, acquired knowledge, personal qualities; characterized by strong motivational attitudes to carrying out cultural and recreational activities on the principles of Ukrainian studies at rural school; shaped ideas about the importance and necessity of the proper level of the mentioned work in the rural school; cognitive traits (knowledge of the Ukrainian language, literature and Ukrainian studies), practical skills (the ability to implement all the necessary pedagogical activities at a high level of expediency and productivity of cultural and recreational work; the future Ukrainian studies teacher-philologist’s highly developed skills for scientific and research work and the appropriate use of their results in educational; practical experience in planning, organizing and conducting various forms of cultural and recreational activities based on Ukrainian studies).
