Pestretsova O. Information and law service in the activity of the library as a social and communication center

In the dissertation process of development and improvement of the system of information and legal activity of libraries as a modern social and communication center are comprehensively researched and generalized. The forms of use and distribution of legal information by libraries have been determined. It is established that the role of modern library in the process of legal information is determined by development of informatization and urgent tasks of democratic processes in Ukraine. The basic directions of providing information and legal services for library users have been described. Practice of information and legal services of users of national libraries is analyzed and summarized. Foreign experience of information and legal services for users of US public libraries has been researched and the main directions of work found out. The forms and the role of corporate interaction of libraries for establishing and improving the effectiveness of information and legal services to users have been revealed and substantiated. The prospects of organizing information and legal services in the activities of libraries in the context of growing demand for legal information in the process of development of system of social information communications and the need to solve socially important problem of the efficient use of information resources have been determined.
