Bourlak G. Professor V.Ye. Taіrov (1859–1938) – a scientist and organizer of research on of viticulture in Ukraine.

The dissertation is dedicated to the complex study of the life path and research activities of a famous scientist in the field of viticulture and winemaking, Professor V.Ye. Tairov (1859–1938). Prerequisites and key factors of its scientific path formation are revealed. The periodization of the scientist`s creative path according to the most important events of his life and scientific activity in 1880–1936 is revealed. The scientist's contribution to domestic agricultural research and its scientific significance were disclosed. Analyzing the professor's work on the complex study of grape culture, the directions of his scientific researches were found out: agrotechnics, including plant protection and agrochemistry, grafted seedlings and winemaking. The importance of the Wine-growing station of the russian winegrowers and winemakers created by him was revealed as the first center of experimental and practical activity in the field of viticulture and winemaking. His scientific heritage was analyzed and systematized. A number of unknown and little-known archival materials and scientific works of the scientist were introduced into scientific circulation.
