The object of research is the process of professional preparation of students of technical specialties. The purpose of the study is to substantiate theoretically, develop and test the model of formation of health-preserving competence of students of technical specialties in conditions of non-formal education by means of physical education experimentally. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is that: for the first time the model of formation of health-preserving competence of students of technical specialties in conditions of non-formal education by means of physical education, which is based on the set of methodological approaches (systemic, individual, axiological, reduction), general didactic principles (scientific; systematic and consistent; accessibility; connection of learning with life; consciousness and activity; clarity; strength of acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities; individual approach) and specific principles (humanistic orientation, conscious perspective, focus on independent work, integration of learning, interactivity, initiative, self-regulation, building an individual health system, axiological, construction of physical culture, ergonomic, reduction, focus on the formation of efficiency and health of the specialist) was developed, substantiated theoretically and tested experimentally. This model provides for the deepening of the content of professional training of future specialists in technical specialties on health issues through forms (physical education breaks, outdoor activities, classes in production conditions, popular science lectures, sports sections, mass physical culture and sports events, scientific and practical conferences, student competitions and intellectual competitions, tourist trips, sports flash mobs), methods (creation of a situation of interest, project methods, conversations), means (individual tasks, videos, DE motivators, plot tasks) of non-formal education and means of physical education (sets of exercises, health diaries), digital health technologies). The essential characteristics of the concepts "health competence of students of technical specialties", "non-formal education by means of physical education", "formation of health-preserving competence of students of technical specialties in the conditions of non-formal education by means of physical education" were specified. The structure of health competence of students of technical specialties in the unity of personal, gnostic, activity and behavioral components was described. Diagnostic tools for assessing the levels (low, medium, high) of the formation of health competence of students of technical specialties, which contains criteria (motivational, cognitive, practical, reflective) and indicators (motivation for a healthy lifestyle, non-special physical education (О. Tomenko), health skills, reflection) were developed. The set of appropriate methods was selected. Forms, methods and means of non-formal education for the formation of health competence through physical education were improved.
