KRASOTA I. The Engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: development and use (1992-2018)

The dissertation based on the study of works of Ukrainian researchers, archival and published documents and materials, memoirs and a number of other sources shows the state of scientific development of the topic, reveals the process and generalizes the experience of development and use of engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 1992-2018. In this work the experience of creating of engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, features of their reformation and development in the period 1992-2018 was investigated, trends in changes in organizational structure and approaches to their use in the specified period were determined. The scientific novelty of the expected results of the research is to formulate and develop a scientific task, which until now was not the subject of a comprehensive analysis and did not receive comprehensive coverage in national and foreign historical science. In the dissertation for the first time: the author's periodization of the creation and development of engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was proposed and enplaned; the structural organization of the engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and its changes during the specified period were disclosed; the experience of using the units of the engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the fulfillment of the main tasks of engineering support was systematized; quantitative and qualitative indicators of the implementation of the main tasks of engineering support were compared; the features of the use of engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during their participation in the antiterrorist and peacekeeping operations and the elimination of the consequences of natural disasters were revealed. Acquired of further development: the historiography of the engineering troops building of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; new scientific documents on the subject of research were introduced to the scientific circulation. The practical significance of the scientific results obtained in the study are to substantially complement and expand the modern knowledge of the forms and methods of the usage of engineering troops during the operational (engineering) support of troops (forces). The materials of the dissertation can be used in the educational process of the National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi, the Academy of Land Forces named after hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi for the preparation and use of the engineering troops units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, conducting of military historical research, development of textbooks and manuals on the disciplines of the operational-tactical block for higher military educational establishments of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
