Essay

Object: the process of social adaptation of junior boarding school students to independent living The purpose of the study is to scientifically substantiate, implement and experimentally test the effectiveness of socio-pedagogical conditions of social adaptation of junior boarding school students to independent living. The thesis generalizes and practically solves the problem of social adaptation to the independent living of pupils of junior classes of secondary comprehensive boarding schools. The conceptual-terminological apparatus of the study of the problem of social adaptation to the independent living of pupils of junior classes of secondary comprehensive boarding schools is characterized. The state of the degree of development of the problem investigated is revealed, which allows determining the social adaptation of junior schoolchildren to the independent living under the conditions of living in secondary comprehensive boarding schools as a set of the integrative qualities of the individual, which are formed in the process of his/her being brought up, learning, development, communication, and activities which can be found in the child’s ability and readiness to learn and comprehend moral norms and values, rules of conduct, social interaction. The success of social adaptation is defined as the success of the physical, mental, social, and spiritual functioning of man. The criteria, indicators, and levels of formation of independence of junior schoolchildren of social adaptation to the independent living are determined. The socio-pedagogical conditions for the development of social adaptation to the independent living have been substantiated and introduced into the educational process of secondary comprehensive boarding schools: modernizing the content of social-educational work on social adaptation of junior schoolchildren of secondary comprehensive boarding schools to the independent living; using interactive technologies in socio-pedagogical work on the social adaptation of junior schoolchildren of secondary comprehensive boarding schools to the independent living; applying the fairy-tale as a leading method of social-pedagogical work on social adaptation of junior schoolchildren of secondary comprehensive boarding schools to the independent living. The efficiency of realization of the social-pedagogical conditions of social adaptation to the independent living of pupils of junior schoolchildren of secondary comprehensive boarding schools is experimentally tested and checked. The expediency of introducing the author’s experimental program “School of Independent Living”, the workshop “World of Fairy Tales”, etc. into the extracurricular educational work has been proved. The possibilities of using these forms of social-pedagogical activities in secondary comprehensive boarding schools are outlined. The results obtained can be directly used in the practice of secondary comprehensive boarding schools on social adaptation to the independent living of junior schoolchildren. The theoretical-methodological and technological materials of the thesis can be used in the process of the advanced training of the workers of secondary comprehensive boarding schools in the process of social adaptation to the independent living of junior schoolchildren of secondary comprehensive boarding schools, in the process of teaching socio-psychological-pedagogical disciplines for future educators, social educators, and social workers, in the system of advanced training of social and pedagogical workers.
