The dissertation is devoted to the disclosure of specifics in the religious journalism of famous Ukrainian public figure, thinker, journalist, dissident Y. Sverstiuk in the communication discourse «Society – Сhurch». It was found that religion played an important role in overcoming the difficult life circumstances of the Sixties (the years of the camps, exile for literary studies, the tragic loss of a son and granddaughter) and in his growth as a publicist. It was determined that Sverstiuk was one of the first among Ukrainian Soviet-era publicists to address religious issues, the need to convert an atheist society to God, and create a national church. The object of the dissertation is the religious journalism of Y. Sverstiuk. The main tasks of the study are to consider the high literature of the times of Kievan Rus and the Baroque era in the context of the history of Ukrainian religious communication; to trace the publicism of the texts of Kievan Rus and the Baroque era in connection with the journalistic activity of Y. Sverstiuk; to determine the features of religious journalism in the age of the latest information technologies; to analyze the religious journalism of Y. Sverstiuk as the highest level of his journalistic creativity; describe the editorial, authorial and organizational activities of the thinker in his religious newspaper «Our Faith»; to identify and differentiate Christian motives in Y. Sverstiuk’s journalism. The figure of Y. Sverstiuk in the context of Ukrainian religious journalism is considered. The significance of the religious component in the life and work of the dissident is substantiated. The Y. Sverstiuk’s newspaper Our Faith has been comprehensively analyzed and substantiated as a phenomenon of Ukrainian religious journalism. The posthumous scientific reception of Y. Sverstiuk’s life and activity with the attraction of new materials was carried out. The research of high-literary journalistic features on Ukrainian lands as an important factor in the formation of cultural weight has been improved; study and differentiation of religious motives in journalism by Y. Sverstiuk. The systematization of scientific works on the life and creative path of Y. Sverstiuk and the posthumous reassessment of this figure in the history of Ukrainian culture were further developed.
