Essay

The object of research is the values of a democratic society that have undergone a long process of formation and development. The purpose of the study is the philosophical conceptualization of the values of a democratic society in the transformational (transit) period. Methodology. The study was performed on the basis of general philosophical and scientific principles. The principles of systemic and structural-functional analysis provide for the consideration of democracy as a complex multilevel system, where different forms and phenomena of democracy, complementing each other, cause synergies, determine the development of social institutions, but at the same time contain the potential for crisis. balance of different democratic institutions and procedures. On the one hand, democracy is both a fundamental value of democracy and an ascending body that forms institutions of power (the people as a source of power). On the other hand, the very definition of who a people is, how much the will of the people can (or cannot) be limited, and so on, is of fundamental difficulty. Based on the analysis of the basic ternary axiological democratic pattern, the author's typology of basic values of a democratic society is proposed: 1) values as ideals (in this guise values can be both actual realities and projective models; value ideals are the political ethos of democracy, the basis of democratic ideology); 2) values as norms (this persona represents the pragmatic implementation of ideas in the field of legal regulation, procedural practice, development and improvement of democracy as an institutional whole, as a process of setting and achieving goals, etc.); 3) values as civic virtues (anthropological hypostasis of values of democracy as education of a certain type of personality, focused on awareness in public and political affairs, on multilevel participation in affairs, on defending one's own rights and the rights of others, etc.). The paper shows that various forms of democracy are an inexhaustible source of improving people's representation in government, protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens in the fleeting conditions of social life. We can predict that in the coming decades we will witness the emergence of new forms of democracy. Sphere - educational process.
