Yurchenko-Shekhovtsova T. Psychological determinants of the formation of the legal awareness of a police officer in modern conditions

The dissertation research is devoted to solving the problem of forming the legal awareness of police officers in modern conditions. Various approaches to the study of the legal awareness in the psychological and legal dimensions are analyzed. Attention is focused on the relevance of studying the legal awareness of a police officer, namely, the psychological determinants of its formation. The features of intercorrelation links between the levels of development of the legal awareness and the individual psychological characteristics of police officers are revealed and described. The distribution of the levels of development of the legal awareness, depending on the length of service of police officers, is characterized. The measures for the formation of legal socialization in the system of psychological support for the professional activity of a police officer have been determined according to the national, professional and personal levels. The developed cases for raising the level of the legal awareness of police officers with service experience of up to three years and police officers who have experience of more than ten years, are advisable to use in work with police officers during psychological accompaniment of service or when passing police training courses in order to form professional competence and the level of the legal awareness of police officers. Practical recommendations were formulated for participants in the educational process in the system of service training; subjects of psychological support to increase the level of the legal awareness among police officers.
