Essay

The study reveals that the narrative is a universal characteristic of each culture, which accumulates and translates its own systems of meanings and experiences in general through stories in the form of myths, legends, fairy tales, epics, dramas and tragedies, stories, jokes, anecdotes, novels, commercials, etc. It should be emphasized that, on the one hand, the ability to be a bearer of culture is inseparable from knowing the key meanings of its stories; on the other hand, the degree of socialization of an individual is also related to the level of his language competence, the decisive factor of which is the ability to tell and retell stories. Thus, without narrative, social interaction, creation and transmission of different types of knowledge, as well as the formation of personality are not possible. Therefore, constantly, at every stage of development of any society, there is a need for its detailed study and analysis. It turns out that the appeal to the historical narrative is important because it allows to emphasize the difference and, despite the change of paradigms of historiography, the similarity of historical search practices. The peculiarity of historical narratives is that, on the one hand, these are works that describe the past, they are texts that belong to the treasury of historical science, and on the other - their language is metaphorical and, in its structure, rhetorical, related them with works of art. The most important feature of the historical narrative is its self-sufficiency, completeness in the form of a statement that contains already defined moral guidelines or values. It is also a method of discourse, it is used to organize the experience of social, biographical time, which allows a deeper understanding of the meaning of any work. Each historical epoch reveals its inherent cultural traditions, representing a stock of plots that can be used later to organize the events of life and history, in other words, the narrative creates images for future generations. Its uniqueness lies not only in the simple display of the sequence of events and their preservation, not just in the registration of the event, but also in the ability to create something new, innovative. Thus, with its help we can provide an explanation of the fate of the individual, people, ethnic group, analyze events and draw our own conclusions for the future.
