Prodan T. The phenomenon of human dignity in socio-legal discourse.

The complex analysis of the phenomenon of dignity has been carried out in the thesis. Theoretical and methodological bases of the phenomenon of dignity conceptualization into the egalitarian socio-legal concept have been elaborated and substantiated, as well as the regularities and factors that contributed to its formation have been singled out. The historical and philosophical reconstruction of the concept of dignity in Western European philosophy has been carried out. There have been identified the essential characteristics of the phenomenon, in accordance with four social and cultural contexts, which represent the evolution of the phenomenon of dignity from elitist to egalitarian status. The structure of the phenomenon of dignity has been revealed in the unity of three basic aspects: ontological, existential and intersubjective. It has been substantiated that the socio-legal dimension of the human dignity is institutionalized in the status of a citizen’s specific rights. Meanwhile, the moral universalism of the egalitarian concept of dignity balances the particularism of a citizen’s status, which justify the value of the unique and irreplaceable human being. Thus, the social nature of a person is realized in the right to vote, by means of which the person becomes an active participant in the socio-legal discourse on the development of meanings that create a common political and legal reality.
