Essay

The work under consideration is a comprehensive study on the history of the health care system organization in the postwar period. The author of the research, in particular, argues that in the postwar period, the territory of Vinnytsia and Khmelnytsky, united by a common historical name Podillya, was among the regions most affected by the Nazi occupation. The paper focuses on the study of the main aspects of the health care facilities in Podilia in the 40-50s years of the twentieth century. In particular, the study notes the progressive significance of the medical reform in 1947 for the health care system in the region. By this reform, a new structure was introduced and a new regulation on the district hospital was introduced. During this period, the district hospital became a center of specialized medical care for the rural population. In addition, the region has also begun the implementation of a comprehensive program for the development of all branches of medicine. As a result of this reform, in the 50s of the twentieth century in Vinnytsia and Khmelnytsky regions, a three-tier system of health care organization, which included precinct, district, city and regional hospitals, was created. During this reform, the region also carried out various targeted measures aimed at further reconstruction and development of the material base of the network of medical institutions: repair and construction of new premises of hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, enterprises for the production of medical equipment, tools, medicines, medical educational institutions, provision of vehicles, etc. This reform, on the one hand, accelerated the process of post-war reconstruction of the health care system, and on the other hand, contributed to a significant improvement in medical care for the population of the region.
