Chugynova I. Ukrainian stage comedy genres in the formative process of national theatre art of the 1920s

The dissertation is devoted to the study of the most popular stage comedy genres of the 1920s. For the first time such "high" genres like comedy and tragicomedy are considered in the same context of the "low" genres - sideshows, revues, comedy-remakes. Such approach allowed to formalize the existence of a - 17- common artistic fields for the birth of certain themes and images that eventually become the leading for Ukrainian comedy theater. Proved, that each of the five above-mentioned genres of comedy theater during the 1920s is going through some metamorphosis with variety of modifications existing within the same genre. For the first time in Ukrainian theater studies the researcher proposed typology for genres such as modern sideshow, revue and comedy-remake, expanded knowledge about the formation of updated genres of satirical comedy and tragicomedy.
