Essay

The thesis deals with reconstructions of palaeolimnological and palaeoenvironmental changes in broad-leaved forest (Scania) and steppe (the south-western and north-eastern Crimea) zones during the Holocene based on multidisciplinary studies of lakes Vomb, Chokrak and Saki sediments. The object of the research has been palynological and geochemical content of the sediment cores from lakes Vomb, Chokrak and Saki. The subject under investigation is the evolution of lakes and sedimentological processes in them and environmental changes in their watersheds. On the basis of the data collected in this study, new features have been revealed on the Holocene environmental dynamics, particularly on development of vegetation, climate and lake systems in Scania and Crimean peninsula.
