The historical and pedagogical analysis is carried out in the paper and the solution of the problem of development of ideas of polycultural education in the national pedagogical thought of the late XX - early XXI cent. is offered. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that its provisions and results made it possible to find out the dynamics of the development of the ideas of polycultural education in the national pedagogical thought of the late XX - early XXI cent., to establish the main trends of this pressure and to determine the problems that need to be solved today. The results obtained in the course of the research can be used when writing research papers (monographs, publishing scientific and polemical content) and when writing methodological manuals and recommendations intended for use both in institutions of general secondary education and in institutions of higher education, in particular pedagogical, education.
