Object to study: the Swedish diaspora of Ukraine in the 1920–1940s. Purpose of the research: to carry out a comprehensive study the political, socio-economic and cultural life of the Swedish national minority in Ukraine and to explore changes in its national identity in the transformation of national policies of Soviet governments during the 1920–1940s. Methods: historical periodization, historical-comparative, classification, bibliographic and archival heuristics, historical hermeneutics. Novelty: the processes of application of the policy of military communism on the territory of the Swedish settlement have been traced; the events of the famine of 1921–1923 in the Swedish settlement have been covered; the peculiarities of the development of the Swedish economy during the NEP and the first years of industrialization and collectivization have been analyzed; the activities of the institutions of Sovietization, introduced by the Bolsheviks, have been reconstructed, the activities of the Swedish National Village Council has been revealed; the repressive measures (filtering and exile of Swedish repatriates to the East of the USSR) against the Swedish population after returning to the homeland after the Second World War have been studied, their decisive role in completing the Sovietization of the Swedish national minority has been substantiated. Practical importance: the results of the dissertation theses can be used in writing scientific papers and developing lecture and special courses on the history of Ukraine and the USSR, regional history and ethnopolitics. Field of using: educational process.
