The thesis on competition of a scientific degree of the candidate of pedagogical sciences on the specialty 13.00.01 “General pedagogics and history of pedagogy”. Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University, Kryvyi Rih, 2021. The thesis is devoted to the study of theoretical and organizational principles of adult foreign language education in Germany. The paper provides a retrospective analysis of the formation and development of adult foreign language education in Germany, examines the issue of state regulation in the field of adult foreign language education in Germany; the concepts of “adult education”, “adult student”, “adult foreign language education”, “andragogy”, “acmeology” have been clarified. A systematic analysis of the organization of adult foreign language education has been carried; features, types, forms of teaching foreign languages for adults in Germany are singled out. The Ukrainian system of foreign language education is moving towards the introduction of adult foreign language education, but a number of problems remain unresolved, including imperfect legal framework, insufficient funding, a need for quality educational programs, well-designed teaching materials and methods of teaching foreign languages to adults.
