The object of study is the national and cultural identity of Ukrainians in Donetsk region in 1923 - 2014. The subject of the study is the evolution of the national-linguistic identity of Ukrainians in Donetsk region (April 1923 - April 2014). The purpose of the dissertation is to identify the main trends and features of the development of national and linguistic identity of Ukrainians in Donetsk region during the period from April 1923 to April 2014. Results of the research. A systematic study of the evolution of the national-linguistic identity of Ukrainians in Donetsk region from April 1923 to April 2014 was conducted, in particular: the transformation of national consciousness and linguistic identity of Ukrainians in Donetsk region from April 1923 to the mid-1950s was analyzed; the peculiarities of the process of formation of the "Soviet man" in the Donetsk region from the mid-1950s to the mid-1980s are revealed; The peculiarities of the national-linguistic self-identification of Ukrainians in Donetsk region from the second half of the 1980s to April 2014 are highlighted. The processes of artificial opposition of Ukrainians of East and West of Ukraine on the example of Donetsk region and features of planting ideas of "Russian world" in Ukraine as a means of deformation of cultural and national identity of Ukrainians of Donetsk region are studied. It is set that the destruction of linguistic and cultural-national identity inevitably leads not only to the leveling of national consciousness, but also to a further crisis of the socio-political position of the personality and the population of a particular region. Scope of use. The facts and conclusions of the dissertation can be used in the development of special and generalizing works, preparation of training courses, lectures and special courses on the history of Ukraine.
